Melvin G. Hobbs


Melvin G. Hobbs, JD, MSN, RN is the vice president of Empire Risk Management Services. Empire Risk Management has agreements with numerous Long Term Care and Rehabilitation facilities in Illinois and Indiana.

Mr. Hobbs is an Attorney with a JD from DePaul University Chicago, Illinois and a Registered Nurse with a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, TN.

Mr. Hobbs has extensive experience providing counsel and guidance in a wide range of both legal and nursing clinical issues, including clinical operations, patient care, risk mitigation/avoidance, and regulatory compliance. He has a talent for establishing productive relationships with critical stakeholders, such as executive leadership, physicians and other healthcare professionals, program staff, and patients.

Mr. Hobbs is a resourceful professional with extensive experience providing legal counsel and guidance in a wide range of issues, including clinical operations, patient care, risk mitigation/avoidance, and regulatory compliance. Well versed in insurance and medical malpractice defense, he also is skilled in analyzing/investigating liability claims and negotiating settlements. He has a breadth of knowledge and experience in legal and quality assurance/improvement matters within healthcare environments with proficiency in preparing and presenting briefings and reports for executive committees and governing boards.

Mr. Hobbs has a background in reviewing and creating contracts and other legal documents and ensuring compliance with variety of laws/regulations and programs, such as HIPAA and Medicare/Medicaid. He is a strong leader with talent for establishing productive relationships with critical stakeholders, such as executive leadership, physicians and other healthcare professionals, program staff, and patients.
